For the past year, Huntington Hospital’s Phil Simon Clinic (PSC) and the bioscience agency, Huntington Medical Research Institute (HMRI) have been working on a collaborative project assessing cardiovascular and neurovascular risk in aging HIV patients. Dr. Kevin King at HMRI has been providing high definition neuro imaging with magnetic spectroscopy (MRS) for several volunteer patients. Dr. Shriner and her staff of residents and medical students have been correlating the clinical data. The research groups have recently submitted abstracts to several prestigious conferences including the American College of Cardiology. Analysis of the final data may lead to important observations about the mechanisms of aging and immunologic factors in vascular disease for all individuals.
